| The
Goebel family has been in the transportation industry since 1962.
That is when Robert Goebel started transporting paying customers
form Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to nearby hotels and
Akron/Canton Regional Airport. As a Cleveland Police Officer for
16 years stationed at times at Hopkins Airport, Robert Goebel was
often asked about the availability of transportation service between
Cleveland and nearby destinations.
Sometimes, to supplement the needs of his growing family, Officer
Goebel would make trips with paying passengers on his off-duty hours.
A single 1961 Chrysler station wagon was used when
not transporting kids and groceries. Since that time the Goebel
family have established two separate companies that they solely
own and operate. They are Hopkins Airport Limousine Service, Inc
and Lakefront Lines, Inc.
The founding company is Hopkins Airport Limousine Service, Inc,
d.b.a. Hopkins Transportation Services (HTS for
short). HTS is an Ohio based corporation established in 1964 by
Robert V. and Mary Alice Goebel. HTS holds several Public Utilities
Commission of Ohio licenses to operate passenger transportation
services with in the state of Ohio.
Spurred by the success of Hopkins Limousine, Goebel family in 1980
decided to get in the motor coach (bus) business by purchasing the
fledgling Cleveland-based Lakefront Trailways, Inc. with only 10
motor coaches. By purchasing another transportation company, the
Goebel family continued to do what they do best provide personal
transportation services while combining facilities as well
as main office personnel, maintenance and accounting functions for
both Hopkins and Lakefront.
When purchased, Lakefront provided scheduled line-runs on a contract
basis for Trailways. The Goebel family renamed the company Lakefront
Lines, Inc. to enhance its image in the transportation and tour
industry while continuing to develop its tour business. Lakefront
is an Ohio bases corporation, which has the authority and capabilities
to transport passengers anywhere in North America.
Lakefront
Lines is the largest independent motor coach operator in Ohio. While
Cleveland serves as Lakefronts corporate office, the company
also has offices in Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo, Ohio. The company
currently has 110 motor coaches available, which are equipped to
travel cross-country.
What began literally as a Mom and Pop business over
30 years ago has blossomed into a Leader position in
the transportation industry, but only because the Goebel family
has continued its commitment to personal, quality service in each
of its companies.
Each
member of the Goebel family learned the business from experts
their parents and are here because they are committed to
a continuing legacy. Taking care of their clients needs is
not only their job; it is their life. Moreover, it is a commitment
the Goebel family wants to continue for another 30 years. |
